Some of my favorite projects have the least direction. When I was in High School MTV and my walkman owned my universe. I would spend the bus ride to and from school with my eyes closed, head leaning against the bus window visualizing what a music video for the song I was listening to would look like. When I receive nothing more than a logo and some black holes in a partially covered promo cut I return to that very happy place. My job on this promo for the Complex was to take the Toronto All Star logo and find a marriage of message, music and motion to deliver the information and move the spot forward. Little did I know that my hours spent imagining how music could drive visuals would stop being a daydream and become a career.
Tyler was kind enough to cut me loose and let me play on this. We both loved the result and the Complex people were extremely happy as well.
